Measure coffee and water with confidence
Choose a method, enter your dry coffee dose or desired brew-water amount and see a practical starting ratio. The calculator performs arithmetic, not a taste prediction.
For filter methods, 1:16 means 20 g dry coffee with 320 g brew water. Espresso uses a separate yield-based calculation (dry coffee to liquid in the cup). A kitchen approximation treats 1 g water as about 1 mL.
About 320 mL • 10.82 US fl oz • 11.26 UK fl oz
Figures are suggested starting points. Served filter coffee weighs less than the water poured because grounds retain liquid.
What to change next
If a cup is too strong but tastes balanced, increase the brew-water ratio gradually. If it tastes sharp or astringent, read the troubleshooting articles before changing several variables. For cold brew concentrate, always label the serving dilution.
