CUPROUTINE

A three-step learning path

Start with an approachable brewer, a small bag of beans and a scale. You do not need to buy every accessory before improving your cup.

  1. Choose your method: pour-over, French press, compact press or moka pot.
  2. Measure a baseline: 20 grams of coffee and 320 grams of water for filter brewing is a useful starting point.
  3. Keep a tiny record: ratio, grind, time and taste. Change just one thing next time.

How to use this library

Read the Coffee Basics category first. Then choose your brewing-method category and follow one complete recipe. If your coffee tastes wrong, use Taste Troubleshooting to understand whether strength, extraction or stale equipment is responsible.

Our free calculator helps with dose and water arithmetic; it does not replace tasting. Espresso uses a different beverage-yield convention, explained on the calculator page.
